General dermatology

General dermatology is a branch of medicine that deals with diseases of the skin, hair, nails, and mucous membranes. Skin conditions can occur at any age. Common skin disorders must be distinguished from rare or newly emerging skin diseases. This is achieved through laboratory and clinical diagnostics, skin sample analysis, and testing of skin function. A diagnosis is made once all results are gathered, and if necessary, appropriate therapy is recommended by the physician.
